The Tomball Stampede, an official expansion franchise in the National Basketball League – United States (NBL-US), has named Nick McElroy as the first General Manager in the organization’s history. The announcement comes as the Stampede and their women’s counterpart, the Lady Stampede, prepare for their inaugural season in 2026, with home games set to be played at Lone Star College–Tomball.

This historic hire marks a major milestone for the Stampede as the franchise begins building a front office designed to set the standard for professionalism, competitive excellence, and community engagement.

A Foundation for the Future

As the first General Manager in Tomball Stampede history, Nick McElroy will oversee all basketball operations for both the men’s and women’s teams, including player recruitment, staff hiring, league compliance, and community programming. McElroy brings a winning mentality and a commitment to developing local talent.

The Stampede is the first professional development basketball franchise in Tomball’s history, and the appointment of McElroy signals the organization’s dedication to building a long-term, sustainable, and impactful presence in the region.

“Today marks a major step forward for the Tomball Stampede,” said Kevin Williams Sr., President of the NBL-US. “Nick McElroy is exactly the kind of leader we want shaping one of our newest franchises—sharp, driven, community-minded, and laser-focused on player development. We are thrilled to have him as the first General Manager in Stampede history, and I believe Tomball is going to see immediate results, not just in wins, but in impact.”

“Being named the first General Manager of the Tomball Stampede is both an honor and a tremendous responsibility,” said Nick McElroy. “We’re not just building a basketball team—we’re building a culture, a platform, and a legacy in this city. My goal is to assemble a group of men and women who play with purpose, represent the city with pride, and understand the bigger picture of what it means to wear ‘Stampede’ across their chest.”

“In year one, our goals are clear:
– Compete with intensity in both the NBL-US and WNBL-US
– Develop players for college and professional advancement
– Make Lone Star College–Tomball the epicenter of elite basketball in Southeast Texas
– Engage Tomball schools, businesses, and families so that this team becomes part of the fabric of the city.”

“We’re going to build something special here. I want our fans to be proud of how we play, how we lead, and how we serve. This is more than basketball—it’s a movement. And I’m humbled to help lead it.”
